APEO Testing

APEO is the abbreviation of Alkylphenol ethoxylates, the chief representative widely used as nonionic surfactant. It has four ecological impacts as: toxicity, favorable biodegradability, environmental hormone and producing harmful byproducts.

Recently, as people's awareness of environmental protection gradually increased, and the harmful affection of APEO, its use has been controlled more and more strictly by international community so the APEO testing has become more and more important. According to EU Execution of New Eco-Label in Textile (2003/371/EC), besides the particular situation as used in pigment printing binder, the use, circulation and emission of APEO must be limited and the content of APEO and AP in Chemicals and preparations shall not exceed 0.1% from January 17, 2005.

The APEO testing means through a certain method to determine the content of APEO in the detected objects.

The APEO testing is designed primarily to determine whether the content of the detected objects compiles with the regulation of 2003/371/EC (it regulates that the content of APEO shall not exceed 0.1%, 100ms/kg, weight percentage).

Currently, APEO is widely used in detergent, personal care products, textile, papermaking, oil, metallurgy, farm chemicals, pharmacy, printing, synthetic rubber, synthetic resin, plastic, food and other industries, especially in the business of washing products and textile auxiliaries.
